About My Lens
You’ve made it here, simply stumbled across my little world or sought it out. Either way, welcome. Now that you’re here, and probably itching to explore, let’s cover the basics, the ins and outs of Lending My Lens.
You’re here because…
You’re about to embark on a journey that will take you outside of your comfort zone. I’m super pumped for you. I hope my lens helps you plan, calms your nerves, or turns your excitement level up to 11 – whatever you need before the adventure.
Or…
You’ve got a feeling inside, a longing for something and you just can’t put your finger on exactly what. I’ve been there, most people have been there. Unfortunately, a lot of people pack that feeling away, because “the world’s too big,” “the money’s too tight,” or “I just don’t have the time.”
Don’t believe those lies.
- You can never see enough of the world, even the bits that don’t quite agree with you. Start chipping away at the places you haven’t been by starting in your own city/town/village.
- I really started exploring the world when in I was in college (this blog started as a class assignment and a desire to explore Louisville). Resources always feel tight. But with a part-time job and a lot of hard work I’ve seen a lot of places. And no – mommy and daddy didn’t front the money (s.o. to mom and dad for their work ethic and compassion though). Again, start in your own city (while you’re saving up).
- When I’m not at school I’m at work, and when I’m not doing either of those things I’m studying, eating great food, or exploring – sometimes all three. Make time and take time.

Hopefully some inspiration
This isn’t about thrill seeking, though you will find some of that. It’s about experiencing the wholeness of the world.
It’s about acknowledging that there are things that make every city, every culture, every person different, and then celebrating those things – letting them be. Because, at the heart of it, we are all just trying to survive. While we’re at it we should at least try to enjoy it together.
If you consider yourself a traveler, or someone who’s seen a lot of places, then I hope you find that we have a few things in common. I hope you can respect the way I see and share the world. And I hope you are able to share some tidbits from your travel as well.
As you read on…
Remember, this is just one lens.
From it, I hope you feel compelled to step outside of your comfort zone.
